Hannah Stiff was born and grew up in the southern part of Ontario. She was taught piano for several years before discovering her passion in mandolin at age 11. Canadian performer/songwriter/recording artist J.K. Gulley taught her mandolin for 3 years and instructed her in improvisation, composition, and performance.
Bluegrass music quickly became her favourite style of mandolin playing, and some of her favourite mandolinists include Ricky Skaggs, Chris Thile, Penny Lea Clark, and Caleb Lindsay.
Hannah Stiff and her family have played across Ontario and Prince Edward Island in their bluegrass gospel band. They have put out 4 CDs, and have been featured on several radio shows including CBC Radio.
Mandolin isn’t Hannah’s only interest. She enjoys photography, sign-language, reading, and writing.
She and her family recently moved to Prince Edward Island and bought a lovely hobby farm. They are loving their new life here and can not wait to start growing their homestead.
